Just wanted a little advice regarding emg lighting, got a new salon, 12M x 14M, with a staff room leading to male/ female toilets.

How much emg lighting should i allow for in the rooms, i was going to use 4 recessed non maintained fittings in salon and one in the staff room.

Am i right in saying the toilets do not need one as size of room small and only one exit? Also was going to hang an exit sign LED light about fire exit door.

Any input much appreciated.

Emergency escape routes need to be lit to a minimum of 1lux, open areas with escape routes passing through need at least 0.5 lux minimum
fire extinguishers/ call points/ fire panels all need emg light within 2 meters
First aid location needs lighting to 5 lux on floor level, don't forget test switch

I use a program called dialux to design emergency lighting levels, free to download and will supply
you with all the photometric data to ensure your cert is valid also you need to supply log book to client

Don't just bung a load of cheap emg bulkheads up , you need to space them properly to obtain the correct lighting levels
