Emergency Lighting......help!

M

Hi all,

Thanks in advance for any advice, guys and gals.....

I have been asked to install an emergency lighting system for outdoor illumination (communal corridors and just outside front doors etc) on a small block of flats. The spec has been designed by the H&S inspector so no design work is required as I am literally to follow the spec....so far so goood! lol

OK so they have requested maintained lights with key tester (still no probs) but also to be controlled by a photocell, so they come on and act as night lights, but turn off during the day........ my question is this.....the photocell is essentially a switch that turns line on and off by means of light so when it cuts the power during the day will it not kick the emergency lights into action??? I am aware that I must be missing something fundamental lol as its very late and I have been redesigning my website all day and my poor old brain has turned to mush......HELP!! lol

From your key switch you will have a feed in to the top terminal and then out on bottom terminal to perm supply connection at fittings. Then you need to double up on top terminal of key switch to supply the photocell. From the switched side of the photocell take a sw live and connect into sw live terminal at fittings.

Maintained lights have a permanent feed (which may be contrloed by a key/test switch) and a switched feed.
They are intended to be switched on and off as required, and thaen in the event of a power failure come on automaticly in emergency mode.
They obviously want a dawn to dusk sensor, instead of a switch.

cheers chap...that's gonna be a bloody nightmare! They want FP200 which only comes in 2 or 4 and earth run in 20mm pvc conduit!! lol!! That'll be fun!!
