is there anything wrong with having running men emergency lights over exit ways switched when ive installed them over the years ive allways been under the impresion there ment to be maintained fittings ie on at all times but not come across ones that have a switch wire aswell.

Yes, emergency exit signs are normally maintained. However, its a right pain, particularly in something like a small hall used for film shows. If the property is used for any form of public entertainment then there are specific rules and regs to follow. I can't see anyway round that one.

Most come dual maintained/non maintained these days.....link out L & SW for maintained

It's in a large office building just something we noticed when carrying out emergency light testing

Then they should be maintained (on constantly) as in post 2. If they are switched, then remove switch wire and link out L & SW
