Emergency lights

If an internal emergency light is installed above a door that opens out of the building is there a requirement to put an emergency light outside also? If so can you give me the reference?

i cant see why. emergency lighting is to identify escape routes, and allowyou enough light to be able to escape. A light outside wouldnt allow any of this, unless the area outside the building is restricrted, and formspart of the escape route also?
