Hi guys, working on an emersion today. Had 230 volts at the switch and 230 leaving the switch but when used meters across neutral and sink/bath it only read 20volts. Any idea what the problem may be? Cheers lads

Do you mean immersion water heater ? if so then the thermostat need to be checked along with the heater element so the next question is it a standard uk set up or is it one of these french megaflow systems

Think you'll find that the immersion is dual element, sink/bath and the switch marked accordingly.
Have you inserted a link between the live load out and the common of the two way ?

Assuming the above post about dual.

If it's got 230v live in to the switch measured L to N and L to E, then L N and E must be good.
If it's 230v L to E but not 230v L to N then the incoming neutral has failed somewhere else, maybe at the MCB/ fuse board / RCCB /RCD.

If it's got 230v live out of the switch on either bath and or sink, measured L to E but not L to N then the Neutral part of the switch has failed.
Confirm the above by measuring across the neutral in and neutral out at the switch, you'll have 210v (ish)
