Kevin

I've just completed my 2372 PV course at DCET Training in Exeter. Whilst I was there, I enquired about doing my NVQ3 with them. They told me, that I would have to apply for it before the end of March, as after that my 2330 Technical Certificate would not count towards the new NVQ replacement qualification (think this is the 2357) and after March I would have to take the whole qualification again to complete my NVQ!

Has anyone else heard about this? I've just looked at the City and Guilds website, and they state the last registration date for the NVQ3 (2356) is 31/3/2011, which sort of qualifies what I have been told.

Thanks

K

Edit: After a bit more research, it seems you can map the 2330 across to the new 2357, however there is a unit (302) that was not included in the 2330, that would have to be completed in order to complete the 2357. So I would have to register for the NVQ3 (2356) before the end of the month, and complete it before 2013 to get my JIB grading!

If it just your JIB grading you are after you can apply to JIB, do the laugh a minute H&S test, then send CV with testimony from your current employer that you are up to scratch with testing etc..

You will need a damn good CV and 2391 to stand a chance. I tried to get Technician grade as I fitted all the criteria, but they only gave me Approved so beware they do score you lower, although you can appeal.

The irony? I have successfully assessed countless students on the 2356!

Find it strange that your course didnt contain unit 302,completed my 2330 in late 2007,have just checked all my certs and have one for unit 302.
Find this thread quite interesting as for a number of reasons(mainly cost) i have not yet registered for NVQ 3 and wonder what my options are.
All the best.

the new unit in the new C&G 2357 is for renewables

and as for not having nvq then either you need to register before 31.3.11 which from a private provider about ÂŁ600+ vat as you have 2330 you will not need to do a knowledge assesment
or if you enrol for the new 2357 then you will have to do a bridging course if you already have the 2330 this bridging course will include the new section for renewables and the nvq part but the rest of your qual will be transferred over
at least thats as far as i know lol as they are not to sure themselves by the sound of it

brucelee how you and the missus doing any news yet? anyways after months looking on line into **** have now registered for nvq before march deadline as afterwards you need am2 qualification this was without a job with a online provider.
you can pay deposit but pay a bit extra via delta but you can have three years to complete 2356 without further courses.

yeah with vq they are cheaper, looks easy enough although because ime doing stuff on missus house to get me started will probably need proper testing kit.
today adobe photoshoped some warning sighns and got missus to laminate them,(i aint paying that much for warning signs).
anyways after months worying about questions they might ask they didnt ask any just what i was going to use as evidence and what quals i have.
cant believe same sex couple won do you think paper wanted to apeal for a wider audiance?
vq want to talk to you for about an hour which you have to ring them for, but its only showing you online how to fill your nvq in.
i recomend them so far no pressure havent started mine yet and its been three weeks!
just hoping my missus will start taking pictures of me soon.

Hey guys.. On the same topic. Ive been enrolled with OLCI (yeah dont say it) for the 2330 L" and 3 and then onto the 2356. Ive just been given the option to change over to the 2357 now or if I stay on the planned route I will be registered straight away on the level 3 and then the 2356 or as im currently only registered on the L2 2330 they have said i can change over tot eh 2357, what are peoples thoughts? i was thinking to change over to get the most up to date qualification, but not too sure now after reading this post. Any help would be appreciated

Quick update. Having all the news of the dates being extended got me a bit worried about what I was or wasnt registered on. Spoke to a course administrator at OLCI and they were able to advise me straight away of the correct dates etc. So am now back on the 2330 with a view to going onto the 2356. Really happy to get this sorted. Just to clarify my earlier comment "OLCI (yeah dont say it)" was referring to views some have on private training providers and not any bad experiences ive had. Been good with me so far :)

No I don't think that's the case. The NVQ date was extended so i would think as long as your eligible you will be able to enrol for it? Others may know better

It’s sad that you had to say no more money to them for them to pull their fingers out.
