End of Life Technology?????

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and need to pick your brains. Has anyone came across the term "End of Life Technology" I've been in the trade(Electrical Technician) for 20+years and have never heard of this, however a trade test that I'm doing tomorrow for a potential future employer has a section on this.

Any help much appreciated.

sounds like a technical phrasing for an everyday thing, maybe a battery resus' unit in case of electric shock etc but very ambiguous phrasing if you ask me.......
Never heard it in my 20yrs but our lass is a fibre treatmment technician (she washing my work clothes).

I would assume end of life technology is the capability to deal with waste products once they are disposed of. e.g. a light fitting has rusted it is replaced: what will happen to the old fitting? what "technologies" are in place for handling this material in safe, legal and environmentally friendly manner?
This obviously becomes more important once you start having hazardous products in the item that has reached the end of it's life. Are there suitable recycling facilities available for that liquid mercury switch!

To my mind, it could be something like an electric chair, gas chamber or similar.
Then again it could refer to mechanisims used in cemataries and crematoriums?
Or it could be something to do with recycling, such as machinery for reclaiming precious metals from computers and electronic devices?
