End to end test r2 greater then r1 & rn

Hi,

Just a quick one, tested a ring today after new install, 2.5 singles in conduit. When i cam to do the end to end test i had these results:-

Flat ring

r1 = 0.44 rn = 0.44 r2 = 0.36

Kitchen ring

r1 = 0.23 rn = 0.23 r2 = 0.15

Not sure why the r2 was lower on both circuits if all are the same length and csa, are these reading acceptable?

Archy - That did cross my mind, however the kitchen ring is in mini trunking (forgot to mention) and the flat ring in metal conduit. hmmmm

Murdoch - That did also cross my mind but cant think where these paths could be, especially in the kitchen ring, but i suppose somewhere along the line it must be

I wouldn't worry about it, lower R2 the better and you've got end to end.
Know what you mean though, why is this?

Fcu to boiler etc perhaps ? Parallel paths through connected pipe work

Not really acceptable for an initial verification.
You should ensure that there are no parellel paths and re-test.
This is one of the reasons why some tests should be conducted during construction rather than after construction is completed.
