Enphase Quote Scottish Borders

Hi,

We've been quoted 10,000 pounds (reduced from 12,000 pounds if we confirm this week...) for fitting a 4Kw Panda panel array with Enphase microinverters. We live in the Scottish Borders and ready to build a self standing south facing roof (we've got a big garden) if it's worth the work, as our best existing roof faces South East, but isn't very unobstructed.

I'm keen to buy into the latest tech so we don't become outdated in a fast moving technological market but is this worth it, or is it early adoption into an unproven, overpriced system?

I would try and find another quote or two, Seems expensive. Reducing the quote by two thousands pounds rings alarm bells to me.

I would agree with the above would imagine the quote should be in the region of 8-9 k

Enphase is superb equipment with 20 year warranties, on line monitoring, no dangerous DC wiring voltages, with better returns so no problems there.

Price as per Ian-LS between should be between £8-9000

We sell loads of these at £8k along the South Coast only on eBay. We get at least three a month from eBay but we have no shiny suited salesmen to feed.

Your best bet is to phone Enphase in Milton Keynes and ask for details of the nearest installer who has experience of these systems. As an alternative phone Metgen in Lymington who ship Enphase equipment nationwide and ask them who is nearest to you.

Being as they started at £12k which is way too expensive and dropped to £10k which is still way above reasonable I would suggest getting other quotes.

Is that 16 x Yingli Panda 250w? The quote sounds rather high but difficult to judge without seeing it in person.

Yingli is a decent brand but I'd certainly recommend getting a second and possibly a third opinion, preferably from local installers who look trustworthy.
