Doing the course, I spoke with people doing outsourcing and couldn't find anyone to cover the whole area I wanted.

Outsourcing. I feel I paid enough money out to get my MCS and for what , probably a very short lived industry. Why pay another great wad for something that could be thrown out like HIPs were. Do I sound bitter?

I am outsourcing at the moment, theres already an oversupply of DEA's with rates seeming to be very low, £50 in my area of south west, it would take a lot of installs to justify the extra time and cost, especially in these uncertain times.

Speaking as both a Domestic Energy Assessor (already approved to do EPCs) and as a qualified electrician I expect better returns from my investment in the latter.
I am very reluctant to pay out any more on the DEA qualification. EPCs last 10 years.
I am bitter.

Hi Done the course really did not appreciate how much work is involved still have 5 projects to do and two exams before I am there cost £1100 so far, with hind sight you could get a lot of epc with a third party for that .

How is this regulated? If an installer can do the EPC himself surely he is more likely to look for those extra areas to get more points. And heaven forbid if he chucks in a couple for free as its close to the required band. I know thats not legit but really how could anyone prove otherwise as its so subjective.

An outsource won't necessarily care or do this.

I will have to outsource but plan to do the course it will benefit our wider business plus feel being able to assess a houses enegy use can only aid better more informed choice to customers. There is more to renewables than just solar pv...we either have to evolve or create partnerships with other companies to offer renewable solutions !

Unless we embrace this you will be left behind !!

Get the client to do it, refund em if you get the job, 1 EPC does all afterall,, oops that silly of me
