EPC when is the FIT eligibilitiy date

When is the FIT eligibility date of a FIT application? I'm trying to get my head around whether the PV panels can count towards the D rating for the FIT, I keep getting conflicting advise. I've read the FIT generator guidance and I'm still unclear.

The guidance says
"The EPC level D or above must have been achieved by the eligibility date of the FIT installation."

Has anyone got a definitive answer and who from?

Hi Tom,

yes PV counts towards the D rating. The way it works is you need to ask a local EPC assessor to do a pre-assessment and you need to give them the specs of the PV system you're planning to install. They will issue a provisional EPC ceretificate with and without PV for you to see whether you can get to D with PV alone or whether any other changes to the building are needed. Then once the PV system has been installed the EPC assessor can issue the final EPC and register it. This is the one you need to sumit together with your FIT application. So basically when you've completed the install, make sure you get the new EPC before you send the application out.
