do you have to bond sinks etc in domestic as having chat and was told that as alot are now plastic its no longer required. also as the protection is now ads not eebads in certs. give me a three phase motor supply with containment any day !!

Even though it's not required now personally if it's a metal sink I bond it anyway extra precaution and I think it's good practice but each to their own.

If I was in a house doin a test and the metal sink wasnt bonded I would leave it.

Hi,

Just ask yourself two simple questions:

Is the sink part of an electrical installation - i.e. Exposed Conductive part?

If yes - sink requires earthing

If no - sink doesn't require earthing.

Is the sink an Extraneous Conductive part - i.e. likely to introduce a potential into the kitchen?

If yes - sink requires bonding

If no - sink doesn't require bonding.

It's that simple:)

Not required under 16th or 17th as Shock hazard due to low skin resistance is not same as it is in bathroom---unless you or your missus do the washing up in the Nude that is !
