As a well worn and estalished sparky i pride myself in my knowledge and grasp of the tasks i do, il be the first to admit i don't reckon to know everything as the industry is so large and covers such a ever changing regulation system but i have to thank the forum for a thread i read regarding the inaccuracy of test equipment at very low Ze values.
The main 3ph isolator to the multi-storey building is a 1600amp beast and fed by 2no# 630mm parallel cables per phase, the sub-transformer 11kv was 10m away and this i was getting a Ze of 0.01 - 0.05 on each phase.... well this value was to say the least dancing around which makes a massive difference to any pfc readings but i remembered a very useful thread 'sticky'
Which ensured i wasn't questioning the test meter or losing my will to live trying to understand the eratic values and gave me a useful method to ensure i had a accurate reading.
So thankyou IQ Electrical in this case for a very useful sticky.
