Just a quick question I am wondering what size esteing claw hammer to get its either 20oz or 24oz just what to know which size would be best for our trade

20 does me for hammering in cable clips. thats all i us it for i think? and them a lump hammer for the bolster.

and i wouldn't bother with an estwing hammer, couldn't justify the cost just for putting clips on. if i was roofing or any other job where i was hammering all day then yeah spend the extra money, but quite frankly for what we use them for any old hammer will do

I agree, not worth spending alot on a hammer, if you do someone will try and have it away when your not looking!

Also if you leave a cheapie under a load of loft insulation it's not too much of a big deal!

20oz is fine for everyday use.ive had 3 estwings in 25 years.the first was a hand me down.i had the second one pinched and the last one I've had for about 6 years.i like them but you get used to tools like hammers that u use all the time tho.i like their lump hammer too which is about 3lb weighted just right IMO.u get what you pay for

Estwings are nice hammers but like many have said are probably not worth the purchase price although they last, if they're used correctly!
I bought my first when I was an around 20 years ago then snapped it in two whist sprising something away from a wall - Doh!
My current leather handled one has been going since then though recently I've relegated it to the van and use a small stubby hammer for cable clipping. Does a great job with a good weight saving.

Have had three of them and every one has been mis placed or stolen !
Funny thing is i never seem to mis place the cheap ones !!!!

showed this thread to the missus. she said " who needs a hammer. why don't they bang the nails in with a shoe?"

Can just imagine her repairing her old shoes on a shoehorn, smacking the nails in with another shoe. lol.
