Has anyone had any experience in doing this?

I've sold my car to a bloke in Italy (sorry to keep going on about it) and because he's apparently limited to the amount of sterling he can get out, he wants to transfer half the payment straight into my bank and bring the rest in pound notes on collection.

I've got to send over my account details for him to pay the money into...

Now, do I just send him my normal details? Or is there some kind of international sort code that I have to find out?

I've been scratching round my online Barclays thing and can't really see much to do with this.

Any help here would be absolutely T for tremendous.

You most likley need you IBAN and possibly your IBIC numbers. Your IBAN number will include your sort code and bank account number as well as the electronic address of the bank.

Colin hope your ID aware, though with this BIC transfer they can't access your acount, once they have these types of details they can move onto loans, credit card schemes etc, be careful mate and make sure you trust him. If it were me I would tell him bring Euro's and exchange them here, take a little hit but it's safer.

Id ask at my bank if there is some sort of like "holding" thing rather than give my bank details to someone over the water ???
Im thinking along same lines a malcome n the big italian word springs to mind MAFIA

True... Well, so far I trust him as much as i think I could. He's got a classic motorbike shop in northern Italy which shows up on internet searches and his ebay account which corresponds with this business has about 700 positive feedbacks.

I've also been speaking with him and his sister (coz she speaks better english), but I guess this doesn't really prove much.

Also, the account it's going into is just a savings one, no loans or cards on it. It will have a fair bit in it for a few weeks but then it'll be back to hardly anything after the house hopefully completes so I could quite easily close it down and start another one.

I guess i need to phone the bank for the IBIC number?

If he was to get your DOB you could find yourself in trouble.
Sounds legit, But i wound nt give my account details to some 1 in another country.
I won the nigerian lottery 3 times last week alone!

So you would give your bank details to someone in the UK .........oh sorry the UK only has honest good peps and outside eveyone is after screwing you .............

It was ment as. Im sure it would be alot easyer to trace money around the uk rather then your details being used in Italy.
Dont be so touchy Mayfair it wasnt ment as a dig at any one outside the uk.
If it came across wrong i apologise.
