Eurosec CP7/CP8 proximity reader?

Hello all,

Hoping that the knowledgeable on here can provide some help/guidance with a query?

I have recently moved and the property is fitted with what I believe is either a Eurosec CP7 or CP8 system.

It has one keypad (led,s only) by the front door.

I want to know if the RKP can be changed for a proximity reader?

I installed an Accenta system in last house with easy set reader and wondered if similar is possible with present system.

If proxy RKP is not available, can anyone recommend a replacement panel that you can fit a proxy reader too?

(I have previous experience of alarm installs and maintenance, albeit many years ago, mainly with Gardtec panels.)

It doesn't actually show it being able to take a prox reader in the Engineer manual, but as tel said contact Risco. They're good people to deal with & always helpful.

As for a replacement: If you have room to fit it, I'd install a Castle / Pyronix Euro mini. Uses LCD keypads and / or Prox readers & a good solid panel with up to 10 zones.

If you lack space, another alternative would be the Honeywell Accents Mini G4. Comes with LCD keypad but will also take up to 4 Prox readers.

Another good quality but more basic panel.

Hello Telectrix, it seems you are partly correct.

Have spoken to Risco, unfortunately the CP8 does not have a proxy compatible keypad available, if I want proxy facility I will have to change to CPX panel which is compatible with g-tags.

I have plenty of room, current panel is fitted in garage, so access is not a problem.

After speaking to Risco, if I want proxy facility (easier for family as they don't have to remember codes ), I need to change the panel anyway so will have a look at the Castle/Pyronix system you suggested.

Hi Ian: Not a problem buddy, Euro mini can accommodate DEOL or standard Double pole Closed loop wiring so it's quite a useful panel.
Had 1 running for about 10 years now & only thing I've had to do was replace the battery.

After looking around it seems that there is not much choice, unless I want to go wireless, and I don't.

Have you any experience with Scantronic?

Their 9651PD panel has a prox reader option.

Hi Ian: Unfortunately I've not installed any Scantronic kit for many years, but it was always good quality kit.
Did you Take a look at the Honeywell stuff ? or Texecom make top quality kit.
If you don't mind me asking, what put you off the Euro mini ?

Nothing has put me off the euro mini, I like to weigh up all my options before deciding.

See what you mean, everything seems to be going wireless. Seems pretty short sighted to me, but hey what do the Techs that have to install the stuff know ?

Have bit the bullet and ordered a euro mini with prox keypad for £68 from Security Warehouse .

Security Warehouse are good to deal with, good tech back up & installation advice if you need it.
That's a pretty keen price to be fair, did you order a backup battery to go with it ? You need either a 12v 3 a/h or 7 a/h.
