Hi All,

We are looking into this and as 'petrolheads' (ironically) a chance to work with cars appeals but at a fundamental level we are trying to work out the economics. From our research we can claim back up to £500 from a government subsidy but the 'up to' part confuses us. How does this work? Does anyone know/Can anyone explain it to me?

Thanks

Depends upon how much you are charged for the installation.

"The Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS) provides grant funding of up to 75% towards the cost of installing electric vehicle chargepoints at domestic properties across the UK." (or £500 max)

Your charge point has to be installed by a OLEV certified installer, you'll be lucky to get one installed for under £750 plus VAT

We've got three to install for one customer, he can only get the grant for one as he only has one ev at present, and it also depends upon the time from/to buying the ev.

Check out: Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme guidance for customers: version 2.1 - GOV.UK - https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/electric-vehicle-homecharge-scheme-guidance-for-customers-version-21
