Hi;

In order to install an EV Charging point at the rear of our Garden for the Odd Designated parking bays we have, the reinforced cable for such would have to run the length of the Garden - where there is a hot tub Present.

Do these cables need to be x metres away from Hot Tubs? I'm getting Herbie Geebies about it visibly running immediately next to it - or is that ok? If it has to run close, is burying it an option?

(FWIW, the Hot Tub is a 13amp type, and we don't even plan on running it the overnights we'll be charging the car - this is a question about cable runs, but I suppose knowing any limitations we have might be handy).

Thanks!

Or would it just be easier to install the pod ON the house, an trail a 15m charging cable all the way across the garden when charging (we're not SUPER fussed about the aesthetics, if there's a massive difference in price).

In THAT case, does THAT charging cable/pod need to be a minimum distance from the tub?

You can the armoured cable to feed the EV point close to the hot tub. It’s waterproof cable anyway, as it can be used outside.
You just can’t have a joint box, or circuit board enclosure within reach.

A 15m lead from the house past the tub would introduce a tripping hazard…. So best to run the main cable the entire distance.

Note. I’ll delete the duplicate post.

Thanks for that. Just for clarity, around 14m of the 15m of cable would be contained within the 6ft fence of the garden, shouldn't be a Trip Hazard for anyone but us.

I'd rather have it done the way you suggested, mind.

Just to confirm this isn’t something you should attempt yourself. There’s a lot more to EV charge points than running a cable.

Get some quotes from local tradesmen.
