I have pulled out an old evaporative system I purchased many years ago from storage to have a look at it and see if I can get it running. Was going to try it in my garage door way as want to see if it produces enough of a change in temps in my shed to warrant mounting it up on the wall.
It is a Braemar unit. Says the model number is RPO45 but can’t find any information on the unit online. Also says it has a unit rating of 5.0amps. I can find a RPO450 which appears to be the same unit only a newer version. This manual can be found here. The wiring in the manual is slightly different to what my unit has.
Mine has 7 wires going into the unit, 3 red, 3 black and a green. These go to a Clipsal switch box. Inside that is a circuit board. Has inputs numbered 1-5, A, N and E. The wires going in are as below.
1- red
2- red
3- empty
4- black
5- black
A- red
N- black
E- green
I have used the volt meter to verify which wire is which and marked them accordingly where they come out the unit.
Looking at the wall mounted control unit that came with the unit it has the below switches. All wires have been cut when the previous owner removed it.
Ventilate on/off has a white and a brown wire coming out seperate connections.
Cool on/off has a red and a brown coming out the same connection and another brown out the other. The brown coming out the red connection appears as if it may have been the brown that went into the vent connection but is cut.
Volume control high/low that has a blue out of one connection and double black out the other.
Is there a way I can wire this up to a wall plug just to check that everything works as it should prior to wasting my time mounting it up on the wall and getting a electrician to wire it up. If it is not sufficient for my shed I will go the split system route.
