Greetings to the electrical community!

I am a full time Event Technician, working mostly with lighting, sound, video and rigging, and a great deal of installation work for events.
Having completed the 16th edition at Uni, 4 years ago, I recently took the 17th update course and now I am on the hunt for installation work, advice, or experience. I make custom switch boxes for work, mostly 16a Socapex distro units, as well as custom switches for remote lighting and I want to pursue this into a proper career, either as an installer or designer.

If you have any advice or recommendations of any course I need to complete, or could recommend from experience then that would be awesome.

All the best on this sunny afternoon!

Thank you all so far :)

Quick question, to go from basic 17th onwards, which of these are really needed; AM2, Part P, 2391, 2330? Want to train to work as an installer for company's in the area, so just need to get the course bit done.

So many course, which ones have you been on and are they any good?

event technician? isn't the proper name for that "lamp tramp?" ;)

There's install work for trained sparks who know about luminaries patching, dimmer racks, socapex and all that. There are electricians who specialize in that line of work, you probably want to get onto a team who are into this business to make sure you get appropriate training in the skills you are missing, aswell as spending time in college completing a level 3 diploma (either C&G or EAL). Could make a great career.

welcome to the forums.
