Ever wondered about;

  • What voltage actually is
  • What is the definition of an Amp
  • Why is wire stranded or solid
  • How many different tyes of fuses there are
  • The Mpemba effect: why hot water can sometimes freeze faster than cold

Okay all pretty basic but what about;

  • Gauss's law for magnetism
  • How to perform mesh analysis
  • Representing the directional energy flux density using Pointing vectors
  • Complex Fourier series
  • interstellar carbon nanoparticles
  • How to detect cyber intrusion in SCADA systems

Have a look at this lot for some bedtime reading, all the answers are there.

I actually thought about stranded vs solid core the other day...
I think its to do with keeping the cable flexible. I think that's the main reason.

And isn't voltage atoms transferring one electron from a positively charge to negitively charged atom?

You have definitely got to get out more

A hint!... if you measure a voltage between two points there doesn't have to be a complete circuit or a current flowing as such... if you can think of another term for voltage, the term itself goes some way to explaining the question.
