I feel an utter fool for falling for this scam, but it seemed really good and forgot the golden rule of not handing over my card details over the phone to any one.

I received a call from this company stating that they can put me on the first page of google, upgrade my website, and give me 5 key phrases, which would give me an advantage over other companies offering the same services.

I was at first hesitant and asked many questions about what they were offering, and cancellation and length of contract, etc. I was happy to learn that there was no contract and on the 29th day of each month I would receive a call which would ask me weather I wanted to continue with the service or not, also there is a 14 day cooling off period should I change my mind, and if I agreed then the following day the service would begin and I would be on google from that day on. This all seemed great just what I have been looking for, and all this for just £50 was a bargain. So I gave my card details and was told I would receive a call within an hour discussing my website.

I still haven't received a call and after a couple of days I checked my bank and noticed that I had been charged £180 as a pose to the £50 agreed. I checked to see if my website was on the first page of google or not, and realised that wasn't the case either.

I have tried to call them back but have had no response, I am in contact with the police, and trading standards. Most importantly I wanted to warn others of this as anyone can be sold a service which seems good at first. As I mentioned earlier I am a very cautious person normally, but it only takes that one time and that's when you get done.

I hope this helps others out there, and if there are any similar experiences with other so called companies maybe you should share it here for all to see.

Google uses many factors in ranking.

One of these is PageRank which evaluates two things: how many links there are to a web page from other pages, and the quality of the linking sites. With PageRank, high-quality links from other good websites would be valued much more highly than links from less reputable or established sites

Having your website address as signature on the forums that you have registered with will boost your ranking too.

Just do a search for “surface mount fan” on Google and the forum topic shows second in the listed results. This shows how effectively the links in the forums feed themselves to Google.

Dear all, who have been affected by neu-era marketing.
I am very sorry to read what has happened to you all, and i have numerous clients of mine who have also been affected by the same company.I would just like to assure you that there are 100% legitimate, honest and straight down the line companies out there.
I work for one of them, but cant put details up on here.

Why is it companies still use 08xx numbers that cost to call because those numbers are not included in most call plans bundled minutes. Turns me away instantly

The problem is if its too good to be true then it probably is first of you need to use all the freelisting services out there and yep Yell can be a problem but I get my site and phone number listed for free plus I get a call every 3 months so fine I say no sorry times are hard and thats fine I have 2 web sites 1 paid £35 for 2 years and 1 free from my internet provider plus lets face it when Google phone I always say I am not paying to be promoted because there are bigger companies than me that already get that service.

Plus I do my own market research ie I paid £120 to advertise in the local paper and got 1 £60 job so wont do that again plus I get more work out of my flyers that cost about 0.5p each and they work.

Mind you I use to get a lot of calls from "Dave" in India telling me my PC had a problem and the more I argued with him the more they phoned until one day they called and said may I speak to *&&^%$£ and I said yep I will go get him for you hang on then I put the phone on speaker and walked away until they hung up and the calls started to dry up

I must admit being a little arrogant with one of these cold callers stopped the calls, needed three hands to do the job anyway and this guy calls and starts the "calls are recorded etc" spiel I just asked him to cut to the chase with a bit of didn't you hear my request just cut to the chase as he carried on the guy's reply do you always talk to people like that and my reply can you not carry out a simple request

It has certainly stopped a lot of the calls so thats one stop list I don't mind being on

Totaly know how you feel, imagine when we moved a few years ago and had the new line put on and not only the cold callers but as it was a lovely phone number we had been assigned, very catchy, but unfortunately it used to belong to a kids soft play centre, imagine how many calls we got for them in holidays and weekends, then get that all sorted out and a new skating place opens up locally and somehow our number got associated with them, bang and we are off again, should give the number up but i really like it, will be worth it once i get it sorted.
