Hi guys,

I have an Ex JB at work, vendor supplied, into this JB are several hawke glands rated to exe / exd which Is fine..... Then there is a few compression glands also exe / exd rated, these glands are in the same type of cable. My question is. When is it ok to use a compression gland and not a hawke gland with an inner gas seal, and when must you use the conventional hawke gland?

It's zone 2.... Cable make up is as follows. 12core 1.5mm braided armour... There is no inner fat. Just the cores under the braid, the cores are wrapped in a paper protection

Your question is a little confusing but if you mean a Hawke dual certified Atex approved 501/453 for example in a hazardous area or a Hawke 153 in a non hazardous (safe) area. Both of these glands are compression glands with inner and outer gas seals. Other manufacturers glands are available.
