For the 2391 you could be asked what meter would you use for.....? (any test)

Could someone give the exact names for each individual instrument as city & guilds want to see it wrote, and not as we would call them on site, Obviously you can't put "multi function tester"

Also I know then want to see the words "approved to GS38" after each one"

What will give top marks in the exam?

Low resistance ohmmeters
Insulation resistance ohmmeter
Earth fault loop impedance testers
Earth electrode resistance tester
RCD tester
Phase rotation instruments

Hope that helps

Chris
what about the tester for pfc
we been told to call it
Prospective fault current function of an earth fault loop imedence tester
is that right
why cant we just call it a pfc tester
can you clear this up for me as i am doing 2391 course at minute

You can. One of the recent Chief Examiner's Reports specifically stated that a response of "PFC tester" would be acceptable.
cheers mate i read that too and in the exam success it said you can to but the tutor at bury college told us to call it this it will take half hour to right it have you done 2391 there is lots of confusing info and not all answers are in gn3 or bs7671 especially explainig test procedures the way they word the questions is b??????s so you think if i call it a pfc tester i will be ok

Yes I have done it. The only way it wouldn't be acceptable is if City & Guilds had changed their position on this, but then you would think they would have suggested appropriate responses and made a point of it so as far as I can tell "PFC tester" remains an acceptable answer. That said I don't speak for City & Guilds!
