O

OhmSweetOhm

Got my AM2 on the 20-something'th of this month and I'm quite unsure on it. From what I've read there's no pipe work, no tray or trunking, just no containment at all basically. So all I'm doing is wiring the joint and connecting it up? Doesn't seem like a lot considering it's only in a bay :/.

Can't remember exactly what there is to do. I can remember there's intermediate switching to do, maybes two way switching not sure, a motor circuit. Can't remember what else.
The only thing that everyone I've asked has no clue about is an S-plan heating system I think it's called? Anyone care to tell me what's involved in that?

But my main concern is the testing. The last bit of testing I did was last time I was at college which was like more than a year ago. Anyone any ideas what I can do to refresh my memory or else.... I'm pretty much screwed.

Any help from anyone who has recently undertaken the AM2 would be great.

Thanks.

Yeah, I work with sparks. None of them have heard of an "S plan central heating and hot water system with a solar thermal sustainable energy element". :/

I havnt done the new Am2 but I've built the practice rigs at the local college where I work there part time, the heating circuit is s plan with programmer, thermostat, valves ect. There is an additional solar programmer which incorporates three sensors, one for the roof, one on the tank and one which does the job of the old cylinder stat, all the wiring is done in the wiring centre, you will Hav a diagram. Also on the rig is RJ45 data sockets and cable, FP 200 on a tray to a smoke alarm, dado trunking incorporating PVC socket outlets which have fcu's toLighting and an outside waterproof socket. Also there is a three phase DOL with a socket outlet on the outgoing side and an adaptable box with jacks to measure voltage or phase rotationThe rig I built was based on drawings which we got from students who have sat the AM2 and drew drawings from memory.Hope it helps

Jamie,

S plan is Central heating system with two (or more) zones controlled by two position motorised valves.

Y plan is with mid position three port motorised valves.

Google it.

Hey again,

Just wondering if you've gotta test the Cat5 installation in the exam? If so, how? Ain't done a great deal of Cat5 work. Mainly just adding a point here and there.
