I don't often moan about work and customers ect as on the whole I do ok and I'm happy with my business, but today this just takes the pish

Priced a job in an old BT telephone exchange which had been converted to a flat, existing wiring was in galv trunking which went across the windows , customer wants all the galv trunking getting rid of do taking 9 circuits of singles out of the galv and moving the lot down to floor level where they will run in a floor duck and behind kitchen cupboards, also three 6 way consumer units to lower 3m and got to get all the existing 20mm PVC conduit runs to marry up to the new trunking , 2 guys 2 days plus bits is ÂŁÂŁ700, she accepted then phoned me to say "I've got somebody to do it for ÂŁ300 "
I'm not bothered about losing the job but livid with idiot tradesmen who are prepared to dum us down like this

At less than half your price the guy must have zero overheads or he's clueless and he'll be working at a loss so it's pointless competing. I'd just advise the customer to check he can issue any necessary certs before letting him start work.

If they're really that naive, I wouldn't give them another second of my time. They'll get what they pay for, that's for sure...

Just sit back and enjoy, I think your price is pretty good a bit tight but then different areas different rates etc. trouble is even if they do a rubbish job the likelyhood is it'll work for years then cause problems and the customer is none the wiser until its to far down the line :(, something more complicated might show signs quicker at which point I would tell them to sit on it and rotate, very slowly..... If they'd done things properly and got three quotes you'd probably have got the job :(.
