Hi All

just been asked by a client to add another 4 panels to his roof to boost his income,

he already had company install orignal panels & set up iverter ect.

then had some more panels fitted which was done on the QT by the guys working for
the orginal firm, they have now maximised the inverter.

so could i add 4 panels with micro inverters, then this is the bit not sure about,

take the AC produced via the microinverters & put this onto the AC cables after the orginal inverter

thus using his 2.5mm back to meter point & into the grid?

hope the above makes sense?

2.5mm sounds way too small, also issues over FiT though not your legal problem.
Connection a new generator and taking the system over 3.68kWp is your problem
Each generator should be on it's own (protected ) circuit. So will need a small CU before the new combined 6mm2 connection
What is the current size? Whether legit or not.
Where did the original inverter go back to?
If you're going over 16A /3.68kW you'll need a G59 application before you can connect.
It will also mean that the existing inverter will need to be re-configured to G59. or a G59 relay at about ÂŁ1500 with witness testing.

Also, they may think nobody will ever find out, but if their generation meter shows a much higher reading than similar sized registered systems (which it will if they are adding more) they will most likely be having a visit and then will really be in the do do, they will probably have to shut down the whole system, if the DNO tells them to.
Not really worth the risk is it???

Hi hi thanks for reply's
just asking as system is not 3.68kw
as customer did not have money for a full
system at time but added some panels year ago
as mentioned inverter at limit now.
Looking like he would like to increase yield to a 4kw
system.
so my question would be if we wanted to increase
yeild to 4kw system could we use same Ac to meter point
on 2.5 that is present providing voltage drop ect is ok
Using micro inverter panels for the last 4 panels??
Or would we need new meter & supply Ac to mains ?
fairly new to solar although I have seen 4kw systems on 2.5mm back to 16amp ?

Hi Earthstore

i have Niceic accerditation on the 11th december 1st job monday & this is a customer enquiring regarding the above.
