hey guys looking for some advise. i'm 25 and recently left the armed forces and live in folkestone, kent. I gained EAL level 2 in domestic Electrical Installers, City and guilds level 3 17th edition and city and guilds 2391. i think these are good qualifications to have however i need to get some experience to make these worth while. i was wondering if anyone knew of anyone willing to or know of anywhere that can give me some experience or tips on getting some.
Many thanks.

Theres loads of work in iraq and afghanistan at the mo. The companies doing it are reaaly keen on x armed forces. with your quals you shouldnt have any trouble. and the majority of the wiring ive seen in pictures looked pretty basic, but you probably know more about it than me.
Just google electrical job afghanistan for more info. Pays good but i guess you may not want to go back there so soon.
Would also like to say welcome to the forum and we`re all really proud of you guys.

i left 10 years ago an got my civvy quals soon after,i rang every electrical contractor were i live an got an interveiw an have been there ever since.if you try hard enough you will get a start an much needed experience mate, good luck!

Just had the same quandary.
I got the best result by contacting local builders. It means getting your ar*e onto building sites and speaking to the boss but eventually I found a crowd who needed help and had no-one 17th edition qualified. I went down the line of just pay me whatever you feel i'm worth when were done.
They were very fair and paid me on time, gave me the next job a new build and were generally very helpful gaining experience, I'm now on a daily rate.
Good luck with that.
Folkestone? Eurotunnel? guess you've tried that line...
