Ok....ive passed my 2391...however my college / teachers have REALLY taught us feck all.

Any body in the south wales area willing to take me along on a periodic ( for free obviously ) to gain some proper knowledge ?

no no no...not at all..... ill labour on the spark doing the PIR for free.....in the hope that i can just pick up some experience along the way, ask a few questions , watch .

How about you get a PIR job, and work with a mate and pay him the fee for the day. That may be a better way of doing it

Im assuming you mean a 'mate ' thats knows what he's doing yeah ?

Good idea. However how do i get a PIR , ..When im not 'approved' to do so ? ...or am i missing something ?

Do a search on "approved for PIR" or similar - you'll find a number of posts on this subject.

If I were you and on the basis that you're new, I'd recommend you broaden your network to include experienced sparkies. I did this and on a number of occassions got work which he benefited from and thus gained experience. Not earning for the odd day or three could well be in your interests. Whether you can find someone is another matter!

Cheers mate, ....of course id do it all for free....in my opinion experience is worth more than the coin , however is just as hard to get some !! ....specially when people just cant be arsed to pass on some knowledge....INCLUDING COLLEGE TUTORS !!!! ..

have a good read of the link below , advice ill give you is never rush a PIR no matter what people say if you want to take 8 hours do it , do not cut corners you cant do a pir in 10 minuits , and read the guidance note 3 over and over and over http://www.esc.org.uk/fileadmin/use...y/best_practice/BestPracticeGuide4-Locked.pdf
