Experiences with Ufindalocal

Hi
Does anyone else have dealings with Ufindalocal?
Had a call today and it seems that they have small print that means if you do not cancel the contract 2 months before the end they automatically set up a new years contract and at a rate that is 7 times that i paid in the first year no warning!
To add insult to injury they called to take payment during my uncles furneral and when I explained that it was not convenient to talk they would not get off the phone and when i hung up they called back 4 times!
anyone have similar situations?

First off mate I'm surprised you had your phone switched on at a funeral but they're obviously just another bunch of parasites that are out to make money from honest tradespeople. Cancel the direct debit and talk to a lawyer if they try to recover it from you via the courts.

as above call your bank and stop direct debit then when they call tell them where to go and sleep peacefully no judge in the world would listen to that crap

Was waiting in the car park when they first called as the cremtorium is out of the way and i wanted to make sure that people could call if they could not find it . they called back 3 times in immediate succession and i then turned the phone off. When i switched it back on again at the wake they called again!
Thanks for your words of encouagement. I am not iin the financial postion at the moment to take a hit like that!

i bet if folk were able to track down the `venues` for such enterprises it wouldn`t surprise to find their just several people operating out of a small upstairs office someware.....
not `global` or `international` or whatever they might say...

You need to have a close look at what you signed.
You also need to google "continuous payment authority"
I hope for your sake you didn't sign one.

Depending on the contract you signed they may be within their rights to automatically renew it at a higher premium. If you cancel the payment route you may be the one that ends up in the wrong side of a courtroom and possibly blacklisted. On the other hand if their contract is such that it infringes on certain legal rights it may not be worth the paper it's written on but even that probably won't stop them getting a judgment against you unless you defend it correctly. Go get some legal advice, maybe a citizens advice bureau should be your first port of call if they still exist.

Good luck.
