Just been talking to Eon about export metering for a 50kW and was told that it would be ÂŁ600 for the first year but that you can only get export payments for 5 years. I didn't think this was the case about the 5 year cap, has anyone else been told this?

Need to work out if export will be beneficial for this customer, the other posts on here have been very useful.

Hey,

I know export metering can be expensive. Are they not going to be using much of the electricity they produce. the 50% assumption benefits most people I would say.

You have to have an export meter over 30KW, as the 50% assumption does not apply, that is if you want to claim export.

You can always opt out of export if the customer is likely to use most of the energy produced, some FIT providers struggle to get their head around that one.

It is just a case of doing your sums really, sometimes the cost of installing/running an export meter can outweigh the income.

I hope this helps.

There is no limitation in FiTs to 5 years export. I would guess that this might be in relation to the contract for the meter itself. Talk to other suppliers.

H/H Metering is seperate from the FiT payment - shop around for a metering contract. Also remember you'll need an export MPAN if you go down that route.
