I have a consumer unit to move for my final assessment for NAPIT, the cables are too short. it is currently too tight to the ceiling.

What is recommended to extend the cables by no more than 20 cms.

Thank you Eleanor

There's a couple of options, joint in the new CU using Wagos or use a DIN rail enclosure and suitable DIN blocks and extend the cables to where you need them.

Note: Be careful using DIN rail earth blocks as they will tie all the CPCs together in the DIN enclosure rather than the CU so you can get false measurements when doing R1+R2 etc.

I'd recommend just using one DIN rail earth block, to extend one of the larger wires, just to tie the DIN rail to earth.

First time I used DIn Rail blocks I had this issue and took me a good half hour to realise why my test results were different to what i expected.

Wago make little orange din rail holders for their connectors.
