What is the best way to extend a ring final circuit. I have a garage attached to the side of the house, for which there is no power. The wall on the other side of the garage is in the living room. I would like to exetend the ring to put a few power points for the mower. The ring is protected by an RCD. what is the best way to extend the ring? Thank you in advance.

Pull a floor board up near the socket on the wall assuming your cables run down. Cut into ring fit a junction box to either end of the cut cable, run one cable into garage from on JB and anither form the other JB and connect them both together at the socket nearest the center of your garage circuit. I.E if you are fitting 4 sockets put 2 on each side of the extended ring.

Is it possiblle to drill through back of living room socket into garage?

If so then you could crimp onto existing cable and extend circuit.

Yes. I think that sounds like the best solution. I could also do with a light in there. Above the garage is a flat so I can't come from above. Our bedroom however is above the living room so I could raise the floor boards there I think. Would it just be a question of putting a JB off the lighting circuit and drill diagnally down through the wall and coming out in the garage? The lights are not on the RCD, but if I clip the cables to the surface this shouldn't be a problem should it? Is there any way to get a light in the garage coming from the ring?

You can install a FCU on the ring with a 5A fuse and wire lighting circuit from it.
