thanks how do you crimp the cable also how do you join 2.5 back together if you have cut it thankyou
Sorry bud but you should'nt use a choc block or junction box under floorboards as it won't be easily accessable in the future, use crimps or wago boxes and when crimping use a heavy duty ratchet crimper not the flimsy one for a couple of quidcheers chris i have wired a conservatory up with a ring main and in the up stairs bedroom i have ripped floor boards up drilled out threw cavity wall and dropped cabbles down in to concervatory and they have now been dry lined plasterd over. how i was gonna wire it up was in the floor space up stairs in the bedroom i was gunna brake in too the ring and youse two jbs but the cable i cut and fort was the ring was a 3core and earth must be for the lights switchs down stairs so now my cables are short to go to a socket, the 3 core and earth cabel i cut i have put back together with a chocky block
sorry acat i was sending the reply too you aswell

They can be used but should'nt be as if there was a fault you can't get to them easily without ripping up carpet an floorboards or even worse laminate flooring, any screw terminal must be accessible, thats why maintenance free joints must be used such as crimps or wago boxesis this true just out of interest, i understand not using choc blocks but isnt a junction box okay, ie if you spliced into a ring between two sockets for a spur. i can see the point of view of it not being accessible though. just bringing it up cause i've seen i done plenty in past. not by me of course
