Hi All,
Been asked to move a cooker switch from inside a kitchen cupboard to surface in trunking to above cupboard. Cable is 6mm problem is no rcd or mcb for that matter on the cu can I use a RCD FCU with a 32a fuse in at the board to provide protection? Issue minor works cert and job done.

Sorry if this is a basic question but like to get things right the first time!

Thank you for your responses.

There are a few issues with this plan:
1) I doubt whether you will find an "RCD FCU" that will allow the termination of 6mm[SUP]2[/SUP] conductors, I'm not aware of one.
2) Even if it was possible to terminate the conductors, you would be effectively "limiting" the possible cooker loading to 3kW.

A better plan might be to use a separate RCD consumer unit with at least one way for a 32A MCB and shift the cooker final circuit from the existing DB to this small one.
If there is no room to fit this at the supply end, it could be fitted in the kitchen using the existing cooker cable as a sub-main, obviously the DB will need to be adequately IP rated for the environmental conditions of the kitchen location.
