Heyup

Need to bond a gas meter thats around 1.5 to 2 Metres away from the water stop tap. The water is done in 10mm already so i was thinking if i solder or crimp and extend to gas meter aswell will this comply as i know if you do both the cable shouldnt be broken but if i crimp/solder the existing cable is in theory one pice and not 2. What do you guys think on this.

Thanks

the idea of unbroken bonding cable is so that if the connection was removed from the water pipe, it would not discionnect the bonding to the gas. as long as the connection from the existing cable to the link to the gas is permanent, i see no problem

No problem here, i needed to do the samething a couple of months ago when the water intake point was relocated and i could not get a new cable from the MET.

Thanks guys for your time. Yes i would like to run a new dedicated cable but the run just doesnt allow for it without more than half a days labour and the customer isnt that well off. Makes sense to do the above in this situation.

Thanks again all.
