I want to extend a lighting circuit for an extension

The current system is loop in live

Can I take a feed from one of the ceiling roses to a junction box and run all wires to the three new rooms to there?

Compromising of 16 x 50watt downlights plus 1 extractor fan

Yes you could do that, or you could take the feed down to the switch and join the neutral there, saving having to have a junction box.
Some people don't like doing it that way, but IMO it's the best way in this situation.

Or loop to light 1 then loop to light 2 then loop to light 3!

its all downlights so was wanting to avoid looping feeds at lights

Maximum 16A clipped in the open,
13A above and touching ceiling with insulation <100mm
10.5A above and touching ceiling with insulation >100mm
down to 8A in insulation.

I would check the existing load first before adding another 800W of lighting to the circuit

how many lights are on the existing lighting circuit youre intending on using, as your going to be putting an extra 800 watts which is a fair bit

Would safely say lads there are halogen ....................and a waste of time.

some of the LEDs are well good now malcolm, iv'e never rated cfl's though

Due to this being an extention on a house and the amount of current you plan on using, I would install a new circuit from the c/u. Labc would like to see that as well imo.

My next door neighbour when I was home put some LED ones in his kitchen to be honest Tel the warm white ones made you look jaundice and the bright ones were a little bluish, I think they are an acquired taste.

But I have to be fair Tel, I think by now everyone knows my take on "downlights" so I may be biased.
