Hi all,

Silly question probably so please be gentle.

I am shortly going to be carrying out a CU change. I am happy with extending circuits with crimps and heatshrink etc. However the customer has asked if it would be possible to lower the CU to a more suitable height (the existing one is butt up against the ceiling!), no problems usually I usually create a shallow box to mount the CU onto or use conduit to hide the cables.

I can readily extend the meter tails, EC and gas bond (as they are just the other side of the wall to the CU, however I would need to extend the MPBC for the Water side by about 50cm. The shape and layout of the house and the routing of the cables would necessitate a LOT of floorboards coming up (and the bathroom which is right above the CU has a tiled floor so access not possible.) in order to run a new length of bonding.

Is it OK to extend the MPBC with say crimps and heatshrink? (all the extended sections will be accessible for inspection afterwards, although I know that crimped connections are classed as maintenance free)

All bonding is 10mm (readings are well within 0.05ohm), connection to EC is 16mm and supply is TNC-S (25mm meter tails)

Cheers

Mike
