shocker

Hello
This is my first thread

A friend of mine owns his own company (woodworking). He has a floor standing industrial bandsaw. This is run off 230v supply (13a 3pin plug). When connected straight to the mains socket its fine as soon as he puts an extension lead 3-6m long it blows the fuse in the extension lead.Been told that it draws 19a so an electrician told him to put 16a fuse wire in place of standard 13a.
Please advise correct solution,I have told him he should have a dedicated supply and not move the machine around the shop is there anything else?
Cheers

Sounds to me like it shouldnt have a 13A plug on it at all, and would need its own 16/20A dedicated circuit from the CU depending on calcs.

I think he should contact a local registered electrician and ask him to have a look.

what idiot of an electrician told him to put fuse wire in the plug?????

dedicated supply is a must to a 32A blue commando socket with rcd protection and local isolation .

What does the info tag on the machine say, should have a motor rating on it at least.
