Evening all,

just wondered if anyone knows where I can get some stupid-length (like 125mm+) M3.5's from. Someone decided to raise a floor by another 70mm odd but the boxes are set deep in the original depth screed. Prefer not to double-stack boxes if possible!

Standard machine screws should be available off the shelf up to at least 100mm. For really long screws I've use extension nuts (sometimes called coupling nuts as well) and threaded rod in the past. When they're really long they become a pain to find the thread though.

Go to your local machine shop( if you don't have a lathe) and get them to run you a length of threaded bar up and cut it to a length that will correspond to the adapter. better still do what Tel says.

Extension studs are like these, but have the 3.5MM thread on them to screw into the box. If needs be you can just keep adding and adding them together

I know the things you mean, we use exactly the same thing in nylon for PCB mounts. I haven't seen them in steel but I'll keep an eye out for them, they're very handy.

surprised they aint concreted the boxes over. bloody muppets.

No, they've managed a pretty good job of that one, too!! Shame really, as the plasters left LOADS of nice space to play with on the walls........

I think I'd use a few 35mm deep socket box extensions rather than extra extra long screws

Most definitly, pretty sure that leaving that much gap between box and accessory wouldn't comply either. You'll probably have to extend the cable ends too, if already cut and made off!!
