I've been to look at a possible rewire job today, but have never seen anything similar in a domestic premises.
Incoming to garage, 6 metres from house, then to a really old looking fuse box/main switch (house was built in the 60's, so not 'really' ancient!), then out from main switch, 3 cables, in a thick conduit pipe 8 feet off the ground, to the house.

This clearly cannot be done the same way when rewired.
I've suggested digging a trench, having the tails/cable enter the house from underneath, to a CU in the kitchen cupboard.
The only doubt I have is what cable to run from the meter to the CU 8 metres or so away.
What do you think?
3 core 25mm SWA?
Or is there a more suitable cable for this use?

The customer didnt want to pay the extra to get the DNO to move the supply/meter into the house.
Any other ideas?

Ta
Alan.
