Extra PIR

Hi,

is there a way to add another PIR to a security light that has an inbuilt PIR already - the fitting is a TIMEGUARD MLB150C MULTI PIR Halogen Floodlight.

The instructions don't say how to wire in another PIR

terminal connections in the security light with PIR are; L N E L1

looks like a couple of white wires come from the PIR into L and N or go from the connector block to the light?

yes the whites go to the light, you have to wire in paralell live to liveswitched live to switched live there is a post float about with a diagram if you want to have a look, its recent

here is what I have. I am guessing I need another core for this to work.

how should I use the SWL on the stand alone PIR to operate the light with PIR ?

Slightly different with two external PIRs compared to an integral PIR and an external, luckily you have L1 for adding extra lights and this can be used as an override as it connects directly to the lamp, or should.
With the above arrangement when the separate PIR switches the light should come on irrespective of what is happening inside the integral PIR with light levels, or detection.

it done it wrong my first time, and the integral light took over booth but burnt the external pir out.... was so confuss ed

perfect! thanks to everyone. It all works. Why would anyone buy a security light without an L1 (for additional light) as it can be used from a second PIR as per Richard's diagram.
