Hi,

I went and got Part P and 17th Edition qualified so that I could do a domestic garage conversion and self certify the small amount of additional electrics (my local BCO has said they will accept this).

Because I am not a professional installer I don't have any experience of filling out the 17th Edition certificates and forms and my problem is where does the new bathroom extractor fan appear on the test list? It is wired off the bathroom lighting circuit through an isolator switch and an on/off switch both located outside the bathroom (so the 15 minute overrun works properly without having to switch the lights on and off!).

Because it does not have its own circuit am I right merely to include it in the total 'Number of Points Served' in the 'Bathroom Lighting' circuit line on the test form - there are two lights and the fan, so total 'Points.....' would be 3 - and actually do the test on the fan as if it were another light - maximum juice use is 12 watts?

Any help will be very gratefully received.

Yes, the extract will be included in the 'number of points' on that circuit.
Are you familiar with the required tests and inspections?

Many thanks for that.

I will be doing the tests in accordance with GN3 and copious notes I made during my course - my hired Megger 1551 arrived by courier while I was reading your advice.

You've made reference to a bathroom lighting circuit.
I take it that the circuit doesn't serve any lighting outside of the bathroom?
Are there any other appliances in the bathroom connected to other circuits?
I was wondering if it might be better to call the circuit just the 'bathroom circuit'?
