Hi i'm just wondering what you would charge for fitting a kitchen extractor fan? I will be supplying an envirovent fan, coring the hole myself and connecting up so there is the cost of hiring the core drill as well, quick answers would be much appreciated, thanks andy

Are you going to have to factor the cost of notifying this to the LABC or are you part of a self certification scheme.

Are you going to run a new circuit or just spur off a local light circuit/ ring final circuit.

If it's a new circuit are you going to have to change the existing bonding.

Are you going to have to issue an EIC or if a spur a MIEWC

How much cable are you going to use. If your going to use an FCU as means for isolation/maintenance is it going to be flush or surface.

If your running a new circuit will you RCD it, if your spuring it off an existing circuit is that RCD protected if circuit falls under reg 522.6.5 or 522.6.6

2 hours labour plus bits.

Dont hire go out and buy as you can get away with your usual sds (Asuming its a good one with a clutch) and a good set of cores is £100.

You will use them for bathroom fans kitchen fans and helping out the plumber/builder with the other sizes.

Soon pay for themselves!

An interesting question and I've just given a ball park estimate for £190 - which the client thought was a bit high but not totally unreasonable. Given he'll need RCD protection and a new dedicated spur plus the certificate and notification!

My main issue is that I don't have cutter/special drill. The last time I did one, the hire cost me a whisker over £30 but the cutting through the double skin was done in about 8 minutes!

Anyone have any recommendations for cutters I can use with my SDS drill? I'd rather not go to a diamond cutter!

Thanks

fused spur/Switch Unit!
Is it placed in line with the permanent live or the switched live from the light switch or both?
Does the fan draw its current from the permanent live and the switched live just act as a trigger?
I'm guessing the fuse is put in line with the permanent live to the fan.
Apologies if my question is a little obvious.
Cheers.
