Few q's to all the pros out there.

Been working with an eletrician ,.....sees to know a bit : however he claims that under new ammendment regs , all bathroom extractor fans need an fcu with a 2Afuse in ? first ive heard of it. so.....

Also , if this is true.: surely they must make a specific fuse spur for timed / overrun fans with connections for the swl and permenant live? as standard fuse spurs only have 1 fused live connections , ?

I heard something like this from an Elcsa guy. If you read the installation instructions that come with the fan(s) the manufacturers do say protect with a 3A (or 2A) fuse, whilst normally they would be on a 6A lighting circuit.

Trouble is if its got an over run fan as you say, do you fuse live and switched live seperately?

I've not done this so far, but if Elecsa, Napit et al get on the bandwagon with this we will all be doing it!

he claims he went to an elecsa update seminar and was told there, ???

Am i wrong in this or just being daft ? im right in the two live conductor thing aint i ?

ive seen many bathrooms toilets sepretly fed through a fcu just outside the room, thats the only safe way I can think of doing it. isolate the the whole room via a fcu..!!

lot of fan instructions state this as it became an issue when a fan caught fire (although the fuse was not the issue because it hadnt been installed it left the spark with nowhere to turn)

reroute lighting so bathroom is end of line then fuse that whole part down to 3a then fit fan as normal.

Love it

I just run loop in feed for lighting circuit to a fcu then have the lighting and fan for the bathroom on 3amp fuse usually in airing cupboard or outside bathroom . Job done.
