As the title suggests, I got my am2 results last week and passed everything apart from earth loop impedance but I've no idea why. Im sure I disconnected the main earth and tested all the phases etc so I'n just wondering if theres any additional things they require me to do in the Am2 that I didnt know about? Because if I was to resit the test now I would do everything exactly the same!

I've tried asking the am2 centre but they just said they cant provide any more feedback. But my JTL assesor has suggested it maybe because I didnt have the regs book open on the page with the required earth loop readings? But I'm not sure as I've asked other people who have passed and they said they didnt do that either.

Why did you disconnect the main earth? unless you were doing a ZE? that would make sence

Assuming you were measuring the external earth fault loop impedance of the installation.
Were you measuring at the incoming supply?
Did you ensure that the main supply isolator was off so that the installation was not energised during the test?
Did you record the highest reading obtained from all the tests?
Did you identify if the reading recorded was a satisfactory reading?

that is all I can think of to start with.

Just to point you in the correct direction:-

Q. What earthing arrangement is it and does it have an effect on your testing?

Q. Dose the number 0.8 spring to mind for your exam?

Have a look at appendix 14 and the regs it directs you to. Happy reading
