Heres two question i struggled to even answer.

Explain how the split phase effect is achieved in an induction start single phase motor?

Provide a diagram & describe short circuit on a HRC cartridge fuse.

Ermmmm..... Ermmmmm...... dunno next question. pmsl
I have forgotten most of this stuff now since leaving college and that was just a few years back.

Quite possible...

Next bit is - i dont understand Star n Delta.
Tried multiple times to get my college tutor to go through it more but just doesnt seem to get round to it.

Without sounding like an absolute idiot - this may need spoon feeding.

I would recomend you buy the linsey book for your course

this explains the difference between star and delta

don't feel bad mate we did the 309 written 2 weeks ago at my college and only 8 people out of 68 passed mate and the highest score was 66% which was my score, some of the questions we had not even covered it was a bit of a **** up mate just keep revising mate get a few mock exams and you will be fine

With Star the Line voltage is 1.732 x the Phase voltage. So Phase to star point voltage is 230v. Multiply the 230v by 1.732 and that gives us the line voltage of 400v. (VL = 1.732 x Vp). The Phase current and Line current are the same in Star so (IL = Ip)

With Delta the Phase voltage and the Line voltage are the same so (VL = Vp). The Line current is 1.732 x the Phase current so (IL = 1.732 x Ip)

:)
