Hi there iam an apprentice and learning bare with me i was just having a look there about the FICA test which is the test i take at the end of my apprenticeship iam just midway through my second year just nosing at the FICA what they require you to do so i seen on the FICA list and this is what they are saying (install PVC sheathed flat cable from distribution board to to down lighter & Fan the down lighter is operated through a 2 way and intermediate circuit) now at the FICA your not allowed to use connector block i would find it easy if it was in single cores but they want you to use PVC flat cable any advice on how this would be wired thank-you for the help really appreciate it and the form.
regards

Crikey longest sentence ever!

You want to wire a down light and a fan, via 2 way switching plus an intermediate? If you know how to make the fan work with the over run from the light and you understand 2 way switching you should be able to do this.

Fan needs Live (permanent for the over run), switch live (to bring it on with the light) and neutral. The light needs a switch live and a neutral to bring it on.

I can't make out from your description is this for an AM2 style test? In which case are you doing it in a bay in a classroom? If it's a down light you either need a junction box nearby to contain the connections or you could use the 3 pole isolator on the wall as a form of junction box. Happy to help but don't have time to sit and draw a wiring diagram, if you are competent at 2 way switching you should be able to work it out.
