hi all after a bit of advice i have a farm house is rated f at best , if the farm and the house is on the same supply can we get round this this, they have a couple of shed s and a ground mount is poss , how dow farms house work on epcs are ground mounts exempt if still connected to house supply?

thanks

all

If the PV is connected to the same supply as the farmhouse - downstream of a grid meter - then at least one of the buildings will need an EPC of 'D' or better.

Ground mounted arrays are not exempt from the EPC requirement if they are wired to supply a building. If they export 100% direct to the grid they will be exempt but you will only get 8.9p anyway.

Just a thought, is there any building that is on the same supply that could get to a band d, without to much expense ?

Also, if it is a large PV system, it might be worth getting a DEA to add this to the farmhouse, you may be plesently surprised.

The EPC is lodged against a postal address, ie the main dwelling, so an outbuilding or shed is not going to be acceptable.
(a barn will not be on the system)
(its the same sort of upload and address finder as MCS notification)

If you have another dwelling downstream of the main supply such as a holiday cottage or another house you can get it added to the system before you do the EPC upload.

We have just had a cottage added to the system, lots of proof its a dwelling and photos etc, it takes about a day.

That is interesting, some installs do not have a postal address so they have to be located from a grid reference or mpan, so. It must be possible for an EPC also, So maybe you could use an outbuilding that only needs minor upgrades to obtain an EPC and locate it by grid reference.

Hi....I posted an enquiry earlier about a job we had in a farmhouse which only got an F rating. Turns out there is nothing we can do to get it to a Band D. Stumbling blocks are its a stone house and its has a wood burning stove. External or internal insulation is not practical so we are stumped.

If we install a 10 kwp ground mount we get to 70 points but the price take it out of the equation....So looks like we are having to walk away. But I'm sure we are not the first nor will be the last.

Good luck.....

yep, the kind of house that would really benefit from PV and reducing it's carbon footprint, and it's effectively prohibited.
MADNESS!!!!!!
