New to the forum and seen some great information so far on various courses out there.

As a result of being made redundant from the army I'm looking to enrol on a course in the next few months. A lot of the funding will be subsidised from training allowance, so it makes sense for me to go on a fast track course as I have been given time off to do it throughout the year.

It would be helpful to know of where there are any half decent courses for the full electrician course similar to that offered by OLCI, but closer to the Bournemouth region. I've seen mixed reviews of Able Skills/OLCI/Train4Trade but still not clear on which offers the best option.

I need to be relatively close to Dorset due to the imminent birth of my new arrival, but finding it tricky to locate centres offering the full package I'm looking for.

Any recommendations please? Something similar to the OLCI full course is preferred, but nearer to home.

College not really an option, as I would rather smash the course out while I have the spare time and funding.

Cheers in advance for any help!

See that's the thing you can't just "smash it out" it takes years of experience.

I did four years as an apprentice and I'm now doing electrical engineering apprenticeship be a total of 7 years training.

I'm still learning everyday. I have massive respect for what you've done for our country. Do you not respect our trade?

Not having a go mate just a question

Sorry really didn't mean to cause any offence or imply a disrespect. Totally understand where you're coming from! The reason for doing it this way is that I have a predicament of not being able to leave the day job until December - yet I have been given lots of time available to attend any training courses in the meantime. Ultimate goal is to get an apprenticeship and real experience, which I'm totally happy to do for free - unfortunately I'm just not in a position to do that until I'm officially out of the job - hence looking to fill the time with something useful that gets me on the right path
